THE Malvern Bed and Breakfast Consortium has launched a competition to design a new logo for the group as part of English Tourism Week.

The organisation was formed several years ago and the committee now feels it is in need of a facelift to increase awareness and bring it up to date.

The competition is open to those aged 12 and above. Designs for the logo may use a maximum of three colours, including the background colour, and be the same width and height.

Designs may include the words Malvern Bed and Breakfast Consortium Consortium, have no text, or entrants are free to suggest a new title for the group.

The creator of the winning design will be able to choose a free stay in one of the bed and breakfasts or £50 in cash as their prize.

Kevin Rolph, the consortium's chairman, said: “The consortium logo is a sign of a warm and friendly welcome and we want new designs to reflect that and be distinctive to the Malverns. We’re really looking forward to seeing what creative designs people come up with.”

Malvern Hills District Council is supporting the competition as part of its five-year plan commitment to boost the profile of the area.

Cllr Jeremy Owenson, responsible for tourism on the council and one of the judges, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for any budding designer, aspiring artist or creative person to have their work displayed widely to thousands of people every year from all over the world.”

Entries can be submitted by email (not to exceed 2mb) to logo@malvernbbc.org.uk or posted to Logo Competition, 147 Barnards Green Road, Malvern, WR14 3LT. Please note paper entries cannot be returned.

The closing date for entries is 5pm on Sunday, April 15. More information about the competition, including the full terms and conditions, is available at malvernbandbconsortium.co.uk
