DROITWICH residents are being invited to have their say on the future of the town at this week’s Neighbourhood Plan Group meeting.

Held in the John Corbett Room in Droitwich Community Hall on Thursday (April 19) the group will seek to build a vision for future development in Droitwich by looking at planning, green open spaces, sports, recreation and leisure, transport and infrastructure, as well as environment, health and education and heritage.

The group’s chairman, Cllr Richard Morris said: “I often hear people say what is the point, we don’t have a voice or it will happen anyway.

“We now have a real opportunity to make an impact locally and shape the future for us and future generations.

“The timing could not be better for our town.

“There is now a review of the South Worcestershire Development Plan taking us up to 2041 and our plan will influence the present day situation for residents and the future of Droitwich Spa.”

Droitwich Town Council has assured the Droitwich Neighbourhood Plan Group there will be a plan for the town by employing planning consultant, Peter Hamilton of Cass Associates.

Peter Hamilton has successfully supported the North Claines Neighbourhood Plan and is in the later stages of the Malvern Plan.

The completed plan will not be adopted until it has been the subject of a public referendum and will have the force of law when made.
