A ROOF terrace garden at a Worcester bar is now open, becoming the first in the city in recent years – and launching in time for the glorious sunshine we’ve been enjoying this week.

The roof terrace at the Conservatory bar and kitchen in Friar Street, Worcester opened at the weekend and is already proving a hit with customers says manager Andy Portlock.

“We have had a good, positive reaction from everyone with plenty of people enjoying the sun,” he told the Worcester News.

“We hope for more good weather over the summer so everyone can enjoy the roof terrace.”

The opening of the terrace means the Conservatory has got out of the starting blocks before gourmet burger and cocktail bar Hanbao, which has a similar rooftop bar scheme in the pipeline, with planning ongoing.

As previously reported in the Worcester News, Hanbao is set to open its own rooftop garden in the city’s Sansome Street by the end of this year after planning permission was granted earlier this year.

The scheme has been in the pipeline for some time and now owners Cropthorne Inns and Hotels are bringing the concept to fruition, after receiving the go ahead from Worcester City Council’s planning department.

Mr Portlock said that he hopes the rooftop garden at the Conservatory will prove to be a popular city sun trap, especially during the forthcoming football World Cup in Russia.

The roof terrace at the Conservatory seats around 50 people and features festoon lighting, plants suspended from brackets, new brickwork, extra fencing and eight tables.
