PREPARE to be pelted with bubbles, foam, gunge and paint during this summer’s first 80s Messy Madness event near Droitwich.

The messy family fun event will raise funds for St Richard’s Hospice’s care of patients and their loved ones in the county.

Participants are being asked to don their brightest and boldest 80s outfits to walk, skip, dance or run around the 5km course at Churchfields Farm in Salwarpe.

Kelly Johns, fundraiser said: “We had hundreds of people join our previous Rainbow Runs and Superhero events and we are looking forward to welcoming everyone to another fantastic, colourful and fun filled day – this time with a new 80s twist.”

The hospice is going back to its roots having started in Droitwich in the 1980s and recreating the spirit of the decade on the day.

A DJ will be providing classic 80s entertainment and there will be additional family activities along with the opportunity to try out the maize maze.

Participants will set off in two waves, the first at 10am for families and young children aged five and above, and the second wave at 11am for adults and children aged over 12.

On finishing the run, participants will receive a medal and a Churchfields ice-cream.

There is a special early bird rate of £20 for adults and £15 for children for a limited time.

The event will take place on Saturday, August 4.

Participants are encouraged to raise sponsorship in support of the free, specialist care provided to patients, loved ones and bereaved people by St Richard’s.
