UPDATE: The road reopened around 10pm last night.
ORIGINAL: DRIVERS are facing severe delays on the M5 in Worcestershire following a trailer fire.
Emergency services were called to the scene, northbound between junctions 7 (Whittington Interchange) and 8 (Strensham, Worcester) at about 6pm this evening (Tuesday, May 1).
Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service engines from Worcester, Pershore and Tewkesbury are at the scene tackling the blaze.
A special appliance with foam is currently on its way from Ross-on-Wye.
Highways England traffic officers are on the scene.
No one was hurt in the fire.
One lane of three is currently open.
A spokesman from Highways England said: "Traffic officers are on scene and fire crews are tackling the blaze. Please take care on approach. Delays beginning to build."
