A WOMAN will complete a half marathon in memory of her baby cousin who was stillborn.

Lamara Turvey, 23, a freelance hairdresser from Pershore is raising money for a maternity bereavement suite at Worcestershire Royal Hospital where £60,000 is needed to build another room.

Miss Turvey who is aiming to raise £500 for the suite is running in memory of her 'angel baby', second cousin, who was stillborn at full term in October 2017.

Miss Turvey's cousin used the Fay Turner Suite at Worcestershire Royal Hospital after losing her baby son.

Miss Turvey said: "It helped so much in such a devastating time to my family, the care and privacy that was given was second to none. I think it's only fair that I give back by trying to raise money for a second bereavement suite as when my cousin found out, she then had to wait until the Fay Turner Suite was available as it was already occupied."

Miss Turvey said: "It would be so much more beneficial if there were two, as one really isn’t enough."

The money raised will go towards the building of a new room in the Fay Turner Suite, which is used to help families who are coming to terms with the loss of a baby. The current suite could also benefit from a refurbishment. The new room will have a kitchen area and access to a memorial garden.

Miss Turvey's half marathon will take place in Manchester on Sunday 20th may.
