Worcester rape accused Lee Collins in the witness box

Lee Collins was called as a witness at his trial at Worcester Crown Court yesterday.

The 31-year-old of Tunnel Hill, Worcester, denies two counts of rape and one of putting someone in fear of violence.

He is alleged to have taken the woman's trousers off and forced himself on her more than once while she told him ‘no’.

Collins accepted he had previous convictions.

The court heard, on November 7, 2015 he was found in possession of knuckledusters and cocaine, brought to an FA cup match between Worcester City and Sheffield United.

This led to a 12 week jail sentence on October 24, 2016.

He was also found with indecent photographs of a 14-year-old girl when he was ‘24 or 25’ years old.

Collins acknowledged that he had previously breached the sex offender register notification requirements after failing to tell the police where he was living.

The breach led to him being jailed for most of last July.

Jason Aris, defending, asked Collins if he had always pleaded guilty to his previous offences.

He replied: “Yes, straight away.”

Collins said he stopped taking cocaine when he learned he was going to be a father and denied taking out pay day loans using the alleged victim’s credit card.

Collins said it was the alleged victim who initiated sex with him and he could tell she was enjoying it by the noises she was making and her expression.

Mr Aris said: “There’s an allegation that you raped her on more than one occasion.

"Did you rape her?”

“No” said Collins.

Collins said a ‘no comment’ interview he gave to police followed legal advice from his solicitor.

He said: "They know more about what they’re doing than I do."

Michael Hall, prosecuting, cross-examined Collins and said: “This is a question of history repeating itself. This is how you treat women.”

He added: “You did not believe she was consenting.”

“Yeah I did” said Collins.

“You did not care whether she was consenting” said Mr Hall.

“Yeah I did” said Collins.
