TO mark tomorrow's Royal Wedding, a Droitwich school staged their own mock version.
St Peter's Droitwich C of E Academy celebrated Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's upcoming wedding by putting on their own ceremony at St Peter de Witton Church today.
All the children had parts to play during the big day, with Year 4 pupils Pippa Lang and Lucas Brett playing the bride and groom.
Mrs Greenwood, early years teacher and wedding co-ordinator, said: “A Royal Wedding is such a special time and we wanted to make sure it was a memorable event for all at St Peter’s.
"This happy and colourful celebration marked the occasion perfectly and certainly is a lovely memory for us all. ”
The wedding party and guests paraded from the school to the church while onlookers cheered, with the mock service then held by Reverend Laura Handy.
Following the service, it was back to school for a wedding breakfast of cupcakes and squash, then dancing.
In preparation for the event the children had made invitations, bunting and cards as well as designing wedding cakes and dresses.
The rest of the day was taken up with wedding related activities and exploring what a Christian wedding ceremony involves, while comparing it to wedding ceremonies in other cultures and religions.
