WORCESTER & District Sunday League champions Callow End completed a treble by lifting the inaugural Vaughn Albone Memorial Cup on Sunday.

Substitute Joe Wood snatched what proved to be the decisive goal against old adversaries Hallow in a 1-0 win at Malvern Town's Langland Avenue headquarters.

Chances had been few and far between with defences well on top until Nick Macpherson, dubbed the Ginger Pirlo, rattled the woodwork for Callow End.

Wood then pounced to finally split the teams before Hallow threw everything forward in search of an equaliser.

Even keeper Wes Joyce enjoyed a brief foray in outfield but lasted two minutes before getting sent off for violent conduct.

And when Joel Hobbs cleared off the line from Hallow's Zaq Hussain late in the day, Callow End must have known it would be their day.

It followed on from the Vaughn Albone Plate final won by The Bell, who came from a goal down to beat Arrow 2-1.

Joe Southam netted two second-half goals to complete a rousing comeback after Kieran Scollan had given Arrow the lead before half-time.

The successful day, organised by Matt Brookes of The Gloster Arms, raised more than £1,500 for St Richard's Hospice, Worcester, where Albone was cared for in his final days.

Elsewhere, Division Two champions FC Korono strolled to a 6-2 victory over Northwick Saints.

Lukas Eilberg was the hat-trick hero with his goals supplemented by a Julian Hopcraft double. Eaton secured the runners-up spot with a 3-2 win against Worcester City Wanderers in a match noted for Kenny Radford's goal of the season contender.

Radford's bullet header from 15 yards flew into the roof of the net with Steve Pitt and Luke Roberts also on the score sheet for the victors.

A nine-goal thriller saw FC Star & Garter beat Malvern Vale 5-4 as Andy Jones and Colin McGarra each bagged a brace for the Star.

Oliver Smith and Connor Millar also notched doubles as Colwall St James crushed Warndon Villages 5-0.

The destination of the Division Three crown title will be decided on Sunday when AFC Mazak meet Express Falcons at Brickfields.

Mazak need to avoid defeat to clinch the title after Tom Corbett hit a hat-trick in Sunday's 3-2 defeat of Masons.

It means Falcons could pay the price for going down 2-1 at home to Lower Teme & Martley where Callum Morris and Brandon Philips did the damage.

Goals from Russ Carlin, Tom Birchley and Mitch Parrish gave Freemasons Arms a 3-1 win at Powick.

The curtain comes down on the campaign with two more matches on Sunday as Callow End host Perrywood in the top flight and Lower Teme & Martley play Perdiswell FC Colts in Division Three.
