A POKEMON trading tournament will be held in Worcester on Sunday.

Toys and Games, on Broadstreet will hold the Forbidden Light - Season 1 - League Challenge.

A Pokémon League provides a nearby place for fans of the Pokémon trading card game and Pokémon video games, who enjoy playing games and collecting cards, to get together and make new friends. Using their own Pokémon cards, they can play, trade, and even win prizes.

Organiser Terry Shough, from Worcester said: "Anyone is welcome. There is a real mixed bag of juniors, seniors and masters. Everyone there enjoys playing Pokémon, it's mainly Pokémon cards, as we don't really do the games anymore. It is good fun and is in a small venue."

"Some of the members enjoy Pokémon Go as well, but that is something different."

Every Sunday the venue holds the local league, which anyone is welcome to attend. However this week is the League Challenge which is a bit more competitive. There are around 75 members who are involved with the Worcester group currently.

Mr Shough said "We expect around 12 or more members to come on Sunday, the venue only hold's 24."

The Pokémon trading card game is played across the world in various league's. Pokémon League events are a way to learn the basic rules of the game and to get the feel for Pokémon competitive play before beginning to compete in harder Pokémon tournaments

Mr Shough said: Some of our members compete around the country and around Europe."

Entry costs £6 and the tournament will be from 1pm until 6pm.

Play Pokémon events are enjoyed for their atmosphere of friendly competition and good sportsmanship. The objective for every Play Pokémon tournament is that every participant has fun while also playing at their best. If you do not have a card deck of your own you will be able to borrow one from the venue.

The event is suitable for all ages and is accessible to all Pokémon players regardless of experience level or skill.
