MORE streets near Worcestershire Royal have been named as 'dangerous' parking hotspots.

Residents have highlighted Canterbury Road, Linksview Crescent and Topham Avenue as possible accident blackspots.

Recently, Andy Hurn, who lives with his wife and two children in Hoskyns Avenue, told the Worcester News there will be a "major accident" if something is not done to reduce the amount of cars parking in residential streets near the hospital.

Following the article, dozens of readers expressed their own concerns.

Kim Weston said: "Try living down Canterbury Road and surrounding streets. Never going to stop NHS staff parking until the hospital buys more land.

Raymond Delauney said: "Topham Avenue is no better. It’s a glorified overspill car park. The parking is often selfish resulting in having to travel on the wrong side of the road approaching busy junctions.

These are not nurses and shift workers at the hospital. Monday to Friday rammed, weekend no cars. They are nine to fivers not emergency workers.

Jackie Hollis, of Linksview Crescent, said: "It is ridiculous that the yellow line at the top of the road reaches the space of one car.

"It is made worse by the bus lane which you have to make sure no cars are travelling along before you turn into Linksview Crescent from Newtown Road.

"This is an obstructed view from the cars coming along Newtown Road.

"The speed that some cars travel will eventually lead to a catastrophic accident if drivers are unaware of the bus lane that cars use."

Spokesman for Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust said: "We currently have more than 1,200 car park spaces on site for staff and visitors, and a further 141 spaces are due to be created over the next 12 months. The trust has also taken active steps to alleviate parking issues by providing a free Park and Ride facility for staff at Sixways. Where staff do choose to park in alternative locations, we would of course remind them to park considerately."
