SIR – When November 11 arrives and we stand motionless near the cathedral to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice, just take a minute to remember those who gave their lives on June 6 1944 during the D-day landings.
Because on June 6 2018 they didn’t get a single mention on any news bulletin.
The day that started the fight to free the world from tyranny and evil ,where thousands lost their lives registered a resounding silence – disgraceful!
So when you next buy your poppy from that elderly man or lady, take a second to look into their eyes and thank them for what they did.
Then hope and pray that you and those who are dear to you never have to witness what those eyes have seen.
Lest we forget.
Perhaps we already have.
