A SPARKLING performance by a talented local musician, marks the beginning of an early summer of performances at The Firs, Elgar’s Birthplace, near Worcester.
Corinne Frost, who is currently the co-principal cellist of the English Symphony Orchestra, will host a solo performance of Elgar and other English music as well as a Musical Prosecco lunchtime recital with fellow musician Janine Parsons.
A spokeesman said: “The first event on Sunday July 1 sees Corinne host a free interactive experience as she plays her favourite English music, including works by Sir Edward Elgar, on solo cello.
“The second concert featuring Corinne is a taste of Italy and she is joined by the Head of the Elgar School of Music, pianist Janine Parsons, on Friday July 27.”
The spokesman added: “Musical Prosecco has an Italian theme to welcome the summer sun and takes place just after lunch at 1pm.”
Kirsty Bothma, Visitor Experience Officer at The Firs, Elgar’s Birthplace said: “We’re very much looking forward to a series of concerts and performances this summer and it’s a very special experience to hear music in the air here.
“The first recital sees a relaxed performance by Corinne where she will take requests from the audience.”
