MORE than 40 employees from a Worcester business will be taking to the water later this summer in order to raise funds for Parkinson’s UK after a colleague was recently diagnosed with the condition.

The team from Fortis Living will be racing their very own dragon in Worcester’s Dragon Boat Race Regatta; any monies raised will be donated to the charity in support of Fortis employee – and dragon boat racer - Andrew Warner.

The 49-year-old was diagnosed with the condition on April,12.

The event, which will take place on Sunday, July 1, has been held every year for more than 25 years on the River Severn in Worcester.

One of the world’s fastest growing water sports, the annual event is one of the city’s most popular summer highlights.

Fortis employees taking part in the race will be divided into two teams, aptly named ‘Dragon Wagon’ and ‘Boaty McDragon Face.’

Training will start in earnest on Monday, June 18. To make a donation visit justgiving.com/fundraising/TeamFortis-RacetheDragon.
