TWO teams welcomed a football club over from Germany.

Droitwich Spa Boys and Girls Football Club welcomed SV Arzbach to the town as a part of a twinning agreement.

In total 70 visitors arrived and were accommodated by the local community, continuing a relationship first started over 30 years ago.

The weekend included the “Frank Holliday memorial tournament” which SV Arzbach won.

Droitwich Titans U11’s restored English pride though, with a 1-0 victory after extra time in Sunday's match, following a diving header by Sam Tranter.

Following this win, the team were awarded a trophy first played for by the two clubs in 1980.

As well as lots of football, there was a day out at Drayton Manor, footgolf followed by dinner at Gaudet Lauce, and socialising throughout the weekend.

The event was made possible by the organiser Andy Holliday, who took over from the work that his dad Frank did, during 40 years with the club.

This was recognised by the unveiling of a plaque on Saturday night at King Georges, by his wife Joyce.

SV Arzbach have invited the club back to Germany next year.
