WORCESTER residents have been having fun in the sun as the scorching heatwave arrived today.

Temperatures reached 27C today, and are set to go higher tomorrow.

Residents used umbrellas and headed for shade, while rowers on the River Severn wore hats as the mercury rose.

Dave Throup, from the Environment Agency, tweeted: "26C widely this afternoon - somewhere in Midlands might get 30C."
