A DISPLAY of snowdrops will create a celebration garden in Worcester this summer.

St Richard’s Hospice will plant over a thousand, hand crafted snowdrops on the lawns around the base of St Andrew’s Spire in the city this August.

The snowdrops will be reminiscent of the poppies planted in the grounds of the Tower of London and the charity’s first Celebration Garden of forget-me-nots in 2016.

Event organizer Charlie Homer said: “The snowdrops will create a memorable and stunning garden which will be an ideal focal point for celebration and reflection."

People are encouraged to celebrate someone or something special with one of the snowdrops in the display, which they can later take home as a keepsake or a gift. The snowdrops are individually made by The British Iron Works in Oswestry.

The flowers will be installed on Saturday, August 11 and be on display until August 27 as one of the visual highlights of the Worcester Festival.

Contributions to help create this installation will help fund St Richard’s care of patients, their loved ones and the bereaved in Worcestershire. Donors will be invited to pick a flower from the garden on Bank Holiday Monday, August 27, collect from the hospice or via post after the installation is dismantled.
