THE Midlands Air Ambulance Charity has been named employer of the year at the annual Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce Awards.

This highly contested accolade was awarded to the charity after it was shortlisted, along with four other companies, due to the team being recognised as forward thinking and modern in its approach to employees’ career development and their wellbeing.

The awards ceremony celebrated the achievements of local businesses from the past year, with an event held at the Worcester Arena earlier this month (June).

Dawn Hardman, director of human resources at Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce, said: “We were very impressed by Midlands Air Ambulance Charity’s overall approach to workforce development and wellbeing, balancing both the personal needs of individual team members with the needs of the business whilst operating in a very challenging environment.

“Succession planning is key in this organisation. This is clearly recognised by the leadership team which ensures that learning and development opportunities are structured around both individual development whilst supporting sustainability in order to provide a vital service.”

Angela Watkins, director of business support for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, added: “We are so proud to receive this coveted award and it’s testament to the ethos at the charity. We pride ourselves on our commitment to our staff, so to be able to accept this award on the charity’s behalf was an honour.

“As well as achieving a PQASSO Level 2 recognition for quality and governance, we have also been awarded with Investors in People and Investors in Volunteers. The evening was wonderful and it’s fantastic to be recognised with this award.”
