A NEW shop in Worcester will allow shoppers to buy items that create 'zero waste'.

Phillipa Gilfillan who has taught at Northwick Manor Primary School in Worcester for 22 years is hoping to launch the shop, 'Pack it in' in September in Reindeer Court, Worcester. Mrs Gilfillan said:

"The shop means a lot to me. I think many people want to live a less wasteful lifestyle and by having readily available, convenient and affordable zero-waste products in store, they will find it to be a much more accessible way of life. I am looking forward bringing more people into the sustainable community in Worcestershire".

The shop will be selling a wide range of food from pasta and cereal to beans and spices, in a way that enables customers to buy as little or as much as they need. The shop will also be selling a range of toiletries and lifestyle items - many of which are already available through the facebook page - Pack It In - Zero Waste Living.

"This month - Plastic Free July - we are launching our crowd funding campaign to help create the zero-waste shop that Worcester deserves. The set up costs for this kind of shop are huge, and although we can already open a basic shop, in order to make it the one-stop shop for zero waste living that we want it to be, we need people who want a more sustainable world to donate."

Mrs Gilfillan has handed in her notice at Northwick Manor Primary School, she has run eco groups at the school for over 20 years.
