A SPECIAL campaign highlighting the work of extraordinary people in the city has been given a boost.

The Best of Worcester Awards, hosted by former city mayors Councillor Alan Amos and Councillor Steve Mackay has been awarded a £5,960 National Lottery Awards for All grant.

This year’s awards are being sponsored by St Stephens Church in Worcester together with the help of Regenerating Communities Ltd.

The ceremony is being held at Worcester Guildhall on Thursday, November 15.

This year an additional award has been created to celebrate music in Worcester schools, by highlighting 'creativity and innovation in any musical genre'.

Keith Slater, of Regenerating Communities Ltd, said: "The awards ceremony itself plays to a full house in the Guildhall where local people, from all walks of life, are celebrated for going that extra mile to help their local communities."

Nominations for the awards will open on Monday, September 17.
