A BAKE sale for Help for Heroes was a success.

Saturday, June 30 saw the Bake for Heroes campaign arrive at Kempsey Tin Hut. A sweltering day, but on parade were the Roberts team serving up coffees, teas and squash alongside home baked goodies that were kindly donated by friends, family and the Croome tea room.

This national campaign coincided with the celebration of Armed Forces Week, aiming to bring the charity to the forefront of the public’s eye, as well as providing people with enjoyment in presenting their baking skills.

Muffins, ginger and fruit loaves, sponges, brownies and cream teas were all on display for the public to delight and participate in, all for a small donation.

Funds raised amounted to £222, plus £50 in H4H merchandise sales.

H4H continues to support serving and veteran personnel, in providing recovery centres whereby men and women can obtain support, and also gain life changing skills and interests, which can assist in providing a real purpose and focus for those that have briefly lost their way, or are suffering hidden wounds, such a mental illness. It is estimated that there are still 60,000 plus service personnel that could come to rely on support from H4H in years to come and therefore it is essential the charity receives donations.

Other events include a pub quiz at the Talbot, Kempsey, on Sunday, August 26 and an evening with Wolves legend Steve Bull on Friday, October 12 at Worcestershire County Cricket Club.
