A PEDESTRIAN was taken to hospital with serious injuries after a collision with a lorry in Droitwich.

Two air and two land ambulances were sent to the Copcut Lane junction on the A38 Roman Way following reports of the incident at 3.21pm on Thursday.

A West Midlands Ambulance spokeswoman said: “We treated and conveyed a man in his 20s who had suffered serious injuries and he was taken by land ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.”

She said the man was taken from the scene at 4.23pm.

It has been reported elsewhere that a second person involved in the collision had been hurt but the extent of their injuries remains unknown.

However, the ambulance service could not confirm this.

The spokeswoman said: “I would assume we would have checked over the lorry driver but only one patient was conveyed to hospital.”

The air ambulances had flown in from Strensham and Cosford.

West Mercia Police had closed off roads both ways between Homebase and Copcut Islands on the A38 yesterday afternoon, with motorists advised to find alternative routes.
