TRAVELLERS have set up camp on a nature reserve near Laugherne Brook and Brookside Road this afternoon.

The travellers, with 10 caravans and associated vehicles, arrived at around 3.30pm according to Brookside Road residents.

The Worcester News has spoken to one of the French travellers, who did not wish to be named, who said they were travelling to France from Scotland, but had stopped off in Worcester as one of the caravans had a problem that needed fixing.

He said they expected to only stay overnight, and would be leaving tomorrow morning.

PC Paul Slaymaker told the Worcester News officers had been out to the site, and spoke to the travellers.

"We have had no calls from the public regarding any anti social behaviour, only to inform us they are there, " PC Slaymaker said.

"If there are issues, the public should contact us. We will be monitoring the site."

He added police understood the land was owned by Worcester City Council, and officers had notified the authority.

The city council was unavailable for comment.
