THESE are the dramatic pictures of the widespread damage caused by a huge crop blaze on farmland near Croome Court.

Around 30 fire crews and 30 firefighters tackled the fire which started at around 4pm on Tuesday afternoon and burnt through 55 acres of crops.

Croome Court was evacuated as the car park was used as the command centre, and the public was asked to stay away from the area at Severn Stoke, while firefighters moved water carriers down narrow lanes.

Firefighters created fire breaks around the fields and hedgerows to prevent further spread of the fire which they managed to extinguish before crews left the site when it was safe at around 9pm.

A Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said they did not know the reason for the start of the fire.
