A CRASH involving two vans has led to motorway lane closures.

The vehicles smashed into each other on the M5 southbound, between junctions 4A and five (Droitwich), today.

Two lanes on the motorway are closed and drivers are facing delays of over 30 minutes.

A Highways England spokesman said the crash took place at around noon, after one of the vans broke down on the M5.

The other van then crashed into the back of the vehicle, according to the spokesman.

He warned that there had been a fuel spill as a result of the crash, although this is currently being cleaned up.

West Midlands Ambulance Service sent a paramedic officer and an ambulance to the incident at around 12.30pm.

Paramedics assessed two patients, however neither required hospital treatment.

The ambulance staff left at 1.30pm.

Highways England traffic officers are at the scene and normal traffic conditions are expected to return by around 4pm.

UPDATE (3.50pm): All of the motorway lanes have now reopened.
