THE chairman of a tennis club says they are bouncing back after suffering two break-ins in just three weeks recently.

Worcester Lawn Tennis Club was originally broken into three weeks ago, and was hit again this week with staff discovering the latest break-in on Tuesday morning.

Police say in the latest break-in an offender smashed through the rear door to the club house to gain entry and once in the building an internal door that leads to the bar area was forced open by removing the hinges.

They added the contents of the till, £85, were stolen.

Charles Robinson, chairman of the Northwich Close-based club, said: "We found the back door and an inner door broken.

"These will have to be repaired.

"A small amount of cash was taken, and the break-in followed a similar pattern to the one three weeks ago, when a similar amount was taken.

"We are grateful to the police forensics who did an excellent job, and to an officer who came out and who has given us security improvement advice, which our committee will now consider.

"They advised us not to keep cash in the till overnight, advice we are now following.

"The break-ins have not affected the successful running of this club.

"In fact, with the good weather tennis it has been a good summer, and tennis has been played on the grass courts.

"Worcester Tennis Academy is based here, and they have been running summer clubs for kids."
