A MAN and woman have been described by ambulance crews as ‘incredibly lucky’ after they walked away from a helicopter crash without serious injury this afternoon.

The woman was taken to hospital with back and stomach pain while the man suffered only minor injuries after the helicopter crash landed in a field next to Naunton Road in Naunton Beauchamp, Upton Snodsbury, Worcester, at 1.54pm on Wednesday, August 1.

West Midlands Ambulance Service sent an ambulance, a paramedic officer and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On our arrival, the two occupants, a man and a woman, had managed to get themselves out and were sitting away from the helicopter.

“The woman was treated for back and abdominal pain, given pain relief and transported to Worcestershire Royal Hospital by land ambulance.
“The man suffered minor bumps and bruises in the incident and was discharged at the scene.

“Given the incident had the potential for a far more serious outcome, it is pleasing that both patients have been incredibly lucky to walk away relatively unhurt.”
