BUSINESSES from across the city came together for a charity rounders competition at Worcester Racecourse.

The Retro Rounders event, organised by ISO Quality Services Ltd, in Bromyard Road, Headturner Search in Foregate Street and 3aaa Apprenticeships, on the Butts, saw 53 players in five teams of nine, and one team of eight, come together to raise cash for the Midlands Air Ambulance and St Pauls Hostel.

The event raised more than £600, which will be divided evenly between the two charities.

MFG Solicitors were crowned the winners of the competition, which was held on Thursday afternoon.

Speaking before the contest, Sam Pedley, aged 34, of MFG Solicitors joked: “We’ve her for the charity but also we are all here to win.”

A further 60 people attended on the day to support those taking part and make donations.

Jennifer Appleton,aged 33, director of ISO Quality Services, said: “We have been organising this for eight weeks.

"Firstly of all it is bring the business community together in a more informal way.

“This way you get to know each and it is also a good way to raise awareness of the charities and the work they do.”

Stuart Roberts, aged 53, of 3aaa Apprenticeships, said: “Obviously we are raising money for worthwhile causes.

"It is also an opportunity for local businesses to come together and interact.”
