A BRIDGE that cost £2 million and has been open less than two years is being closed off for repairs.

Eastham Bridge, near Tenbury, reopened in April 2017, reconnecting the village with the A443 under control of temporary traffic lights.

The original Eastham Bridge collapsed in May 2016 right in front of a bus carrying 11 children.

It left frustrated villagers facing a 10-mile detour to cross the river, until the new bridge opened.

But Worcestershire County Council has announced the bridge will be closed tonight and tomorrow night for "minor repairs".

The bridge will be closed to traffic between 8pm and 6am each night.
