A PENSIONER who indecently assaulted a disabled seven-year-old girl has breached a sexual offences prevention order by having contact with a girl aged 12.

Victor Galvin, previously of Bromsgrove, admitted breaching the sexual offences prevention order when he appeared at Worcester Crown Court yesterday.

Galvin, aged 83, now of Houndsfield Grove, Birmingham, admitted breaching the order between May 1 and June 1 this year by having contact with a girl aged under 16 (12 years old) which he was prohibited from doing by a sexual offences prevention order made on December 5, 2014.

Michael Aspinall, for Galvin, said a basis of plea would be uploaded to the digital case system in due course. Gerald Bermingham, prosecuting, said he would make enquiries about whether this basis of plea was acceptable to the Crown.

Judge Robert Juckes QC ordered a pre-sentence report to be prepared by the probation service and adjourned the case for Mr Bermingham to establish the Crown’s position with regard to the basis of plea. Judge Juckes, addressing the defendant directly, said: “You have had the good sense to plead guilty. You will get credit for that plea whatever may happen in that case.”

He told Galvin to report to a probation service before leaving the court. The case was adjourned until September 4 when Galvin is due to be sentenced.

We previously reported how Galvin, then aged 79, pleaded guilty to the assault and to making indecent photographs of young children.

Galvin had become friendly with the girl and her mother after a chance meeting in Bromsgrove, taking the girl's picture and touching her breasts. Galvin was given a three year community order and ordered to pay £1,000 costs.
