SIR – Herewith a copy of the letter I sent to Prime Minister Theresa May.

“Dear Prime Minister,

“The people of Great Britain voted to leave the EU over two years ago. It was a solid act of political courage against the prophets of doom led by David Cameron and backed by the MPs living in my county, Worcestershire.

“They were, to say the least, mere followers and voted to remain and now under your guidance the Worcestershire MPs support the campaign to leave.

“It would have been good for those MPs to have the courage of their own conviction and follow the will of the people and not Mr Cameron’s or resign as Mr Cameron did not simply jump over the fence.

“About 17 million people voted to leave because rightly they believed in Britain and what this country could be.

“Where would we be if in 1939 if Winston Churchill had not believed in Britain and the Commonwealth and its people.

“Michel Barnier is leading us by the nose. We should not be fearful of Britain’s independent future. Mrs May’s Chequers plan will shackle this country to the EU forever.

“We would not be in Europe but Run by Europe. I implore you not to take this course of action and have a free deal with Europe that is similar to Canada and trust the people of this country to make the most of the global opportunities that lie ahead.

“The EU needs Britain not the other way around. As an example; agricultural products, we import 40 billion euros from the EU and export 16 billion euros to the EU.

“We do not need to do a deal, the EU needs to run to us.

Also, no deal means no ‘divorce bill of £40 billion.

“Prime Minister listen to the people, throw out the Chequers plan and tell Mr Barnier and the EU President Jean-Claude Junker if they would like to have a trade deal with the UK to come and see us.”
