GET ready for a magical time of comedy, song and dance as the Friends of the Swan Theatre (FOST) in Worcester get ready to present their very own Gala Show.

Variety will very much be the name of the game.

A spokesman said: “ The Friends of the Swan Theatre invite you to join them for show-stopping performances from a variety of acts. Come and enjoy the magic of live entertainment and all that it offers!

“The show will feature Worcester’s own Barry North, the Worcester Ukulele Band, Wymsical Theatre, dancers from Academy Theatre Arts and the Harlequin Stage School, songs from Laura Fullelove and Gregory Aston, The Fidgets, and Worcester’s Gabrielle Bullock with her tribute to Gracie Fields.”

Gracie Fields was a superstar of her day. At one point, at the height of her fame in the 1930s, the actress, singer and comedian was playing three shows a night in London’s West End.

Her most famous song was the huge hit “Sally”, always in demand with Allied troops, during the Second World War.

The spokesman added: “Barry is also compèring the full and varied programme and there are lots of opportunities to join in with the magic of live entertainment.”

Jan Vale, chairman of the Friends of the Swan Theatre said: “The committee is very grateful to all the people who have put a considerable amount of hard work into this show that will raise funds in aid of the Swan and this year FOST are also championing Headway, the charity that the Ukulele Band supports.” The show is on Friday, September 14, and Saturday, September 15, at 7.15pm, with a 2.15pm matinee performance on the Saturday.

The venue, of course, will be The Swan. Tickets are £11 (with concessions) available from the Worcester Live box office, Crowngate or by calling 01905 611427.
