A SINGER from a tiny Worcestershire village is to perform live on TV at the Albert Hall after being selected as the first artist to have an official song for the Royal British Legion's Festival of Remembrance.

Nineteen-year-old Tori White will sing in front of the Queen and on the BBC during the ceremony on Saturday, November 10.

The former Pershore High School pupil's debut single, entitled You Don't Scare Me, is out today.

"I'm really excited about the release of my single," she said. "And I am really looking forward to the performance at the Albert Hall - although it will be very scary."

Tori, who lives in Wadborough with her parents Sue and Nigel and 21-year-old brother Chris, spent a year at the Vocaltech singing school in London.

After hearing her sing at an audition in January, 2006, tutors instantly elevated her to the master diploma. She was the youngest of five vocalists selected for the diploma, and achieved the highest grades for her six showcases.

"It has all been somewhat of a whirlwind," said Tori. "I have always wanted to sing from a very young age, and now I am getting the opportunity, it's fantastic. I hope that people like my music and that I can have a successful career."

It was Tori's unique vocal delivery that first caught the attention of producer Jim Dooley, frontman of The Dooleys.

After a chance meeting with Tori's father at a hotel, he said: "He mentioned his daughter was a singer and gave me her demo. I was blown away and agreed to be her executive producer.

"I played her music to a number of leading figures - including Dan Saxon and Mark James, the producers behind Simply Red. They knew she was an amazing talent and we started working on an incredible debut album. Now we are about to unleash Britain's biggest new pop star in decades."

BBC producers were so moved with Tori's track Please Remember that it was selected for this year's Festival of Remembrance.

It has subsequently been chosen as the official record for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal 2007.

Tori describes her music as a vibrant blend of soulful ballads and power-pop. For more information, visit Tori's website www.myspace.com/toriwhitemusic
