WE gathered back in Callow End Village Hall for our September meeting after the summer break.

The walking group has only managed one walk as the earlier summer weather was not ideal, but three members visited the nuclear bunker at Ripple. The theatre group enjoyed Hot Mikado performed by the junior members of WODYS. A visit was also made for a comprehensive tour of St Richard's Hospice.

Members entering scarecrows in Callow End's second Grand Scarecrow Festival were wished the best of luck.

We are supporting the MacMillan Cancer Fund's World's Biggest Coffee Morning in the village hall on Friday, September 28, from 10am to noon. There will be a bring and buy stall. Madeline Goold was our excellent speaker. Her talk had the title Why Do Snails Climb Trees? Madeline is an artist, working in stone and willow, and has had an exhibit in the McAlpine garden at the Chelsea Flower Show.

Her talk finished with a short film show of her stone sculptures and willow people.

We meet again in Callow End Village Hall at 7.30 pm on October 4. Our speaker will be John Boynton on Railways of Worcestershire.
