President Eileen Williams welcomed 42 members to the September meeting.

The September County News was available for each member. Anyone interested in attending any of the activities listed was asked to put forward their names. The autumn council meeting was to be held at Pershore on October 23 and the Elgar Group of WIs will be holding a meeting at Lower Broadheath on October 30 at which the Tudor Maids will be entertaining members and guests.

The president then outlined an exercise in which representatives from WIs had been asked to take part in the co-ordination of emergency services so that they could be tested for an imaginary disaster.

Final arrangements were being made for an outing to Chipping Campden, with a guided walk of the town, followed by a trip to the National Trust property, Snowshill Manor. A group of members and friends are also planning a visit to Seville in October. Members agreed that our Christmas dinner outing should again be at the golf club.

Friends of the WI were planning to hold a barn dance on October 6. There would be live music and a hot supper would be served. Tickets were on sale for £10 and members were encouraged to attend or to offer their help. Proceeds from this function will be given to community projects in the area.

We were then introduced to our speaker, Cora Weaver, who told us about the history of Malvern, from how the hills came into being, famous people of Malvern and a lot of things in between.

This was an informative and interesting talk enjoyed by members.

The date of the next meeting is October 3 when the topic will be Three-Dimensional Decoupage. Visitors will be most welcome.
