PROSPECTIVE students will have the opportunity to discover a new future in higher education, at the University of Worcester's Open Day this Sunday.

Lecturers and staff will be on hand, between 10am and 3pm, to give talks and exhibitions on both post graduate and undergraduate courses and advice on accommodation and fees.

Sports, computing, teaching, business, nursing and social care are just some of the hundreds of courses available. New courses include journalism, marketing advertising and public relations, forensic biology, sports therapy and paramedic training. There's also a chance to take a campus tour, meet current students and see the University's range of facilities. These include its £1 million Digital Arts Centre, £3m sports centre and laboratories, modern library, 24-hour computer rooms and purpose built drama studio.

University of Worcester Vice Chancellor, Professor David Green, said: "Often people don't realise that there are a variety of routes into Higher Education including traditional A-Levels, HND's, BTEC's, NVQ's and Access courses. Worcester is also a very warm, welcoming place, with a wide variety of students, in fact up to 45 per cent of our students are aged 21 or over. So Sunday really is a great opportunity for people of all ages and educational backgrounds to discover more about university study."

The University of Worcester has seen record student numbers for the sixth straight year running, and this year enjoyed a 41 per cent increase in degree applications - the second highest rise in the UK. It is also currently in the process of developing a £120 million city campus on the site of the former Royal Infirmary Hospital in Castle Street.

Its St John's campus off Henwick Grove, Worcester, will be open to visitors between 10am and 3pm this Sunday (September 23rd). For further details, or to register in advance, please call 01905 855141 or email study@worc.ac.uk
