DROITWICH residents could soon be taking advantage of a new day spa after planning permission was granted on Thursday.
The spa is planned to be situated at Candlemas House, Worcester Road, and will include five treatment/relaxation rooms, changing facilities and a five-person sauna in the basement.
Wychavon District Council's development control committee approved the planning application by a majority vote, when they met on Thursday afternoon. Local Droitwich councillor Yuleen Jewell voted against the application saying that traffic and parking implications would be detrimental to the area.
However, as Highways had raised no worries about visibility, the committee would have been unable to refuse the application on those grounds.
The opening times of the proposed spa would be 10am to 6pm, Tuesday to Saturday. One evening per week it could open late until 8pm. The applicant, Miss Parkes, will live on the premises, which will have eight parking spaces to accomodate staff and clients
