A TEENAGE girl has been airlifted to hospital after a firework spooked her horse and threw her off.
The 16-year-old girl suffered serious head injuries after her horse bolted and she was thrown off on Flying Horse Lane in Bradley Green, near Droitwich, at 1.10pm on Saturday.
A rapid response vehicle and the County Air Ambulance from Strensham were dispatched to the scene after initial reports suggested the rider had suffered a serious head injury.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "The 16-year-old, who lives in the Redditch area, told the ambulance staff that her horse bolted after the firework went off and she eventually fell off after loosing control."
There was a suggestion that she had been knocked out for a brief period and she had suffered a head injury and she was immobilised using a neck collar and spinal board before being airlifted to the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch for further assessment and treatment.
