COMMENT: Our prayers go to 'little man's' family

OUR thoughts and prayers today are with the family of little Cameron Simpson. The three-year-old died on Tuesday evening after being in collision with a minibus taxi near his home in Droitwich.

It is believed the youngster had just got out of the taxi with members of his family.

The death of a child at any time is tragic. But the death of one as young as Cameron just a few days before Christmas is particularly poignant.

It is impossible to comprehend the misery that has been visited upon Cameron's mother Kerry and the rest of his family. They have gone from being a normal family looking forward to the delights of Christmas to one in despair and mourning.

And in a tragic twist of fate, little Cameron was part of the extended family of Kyle Gadsby, one of the four teenagers killed on the A449 last year.

We have no doubt there will be many questions to be asked about the events that led to this tragedy.

But now is not the time for them.

Now is the time for Cameron's friends and neighbours to rally round his distraught family. They will need the support of those closest to them like never before.

Many of the tributes left at the scene of the accident and on our website refer to Cameron as "little man". He was clearly a little man who made a big impression on people in his short life.

We pray he sleeps peacefully.
