A TOUCHING tribute to fallen soldiers has appeared on postboxes ahead of Remembrance Sunday and Armstice Day.

A mysterious yarn bomber has placed the tribute on two Royal Mail postboxes along Northwick Road.

Worcester News:

The only clue to the identity of the person who created them is a note tied to each postbox.

It reads: "I was made to spread some cheer, for people walking past.

"And if you would, please leave me here, so that the cheer can last."

The first yarn bombed postbox is outside Northwick Manor Primary School which has a crocheted soldier saluting on top of a field of poppies.

Worcester News:

The second is along Northwick Road at the corner with Beckett Road where the mystery yarn bomber has created a poppy wreath.

Both bear the words Lest We Forget.

Yarn bombing is a type of street art where people create colourful designs and leave them in public places such as on bollards or fences.

In July, a post box in Astwood Road was given a Team GB makeover to mark the Olympics.

Knitted and crocheted Team GB figures taking part in Olympic events such as hurdles and javelin currently adorned the post box outside Rainbow Hill Premier.

Behind the Team GB creation were Rachel Park and Kirsty Broadbent from Wotahoot at The Rainbow Hill Centre.
