Ever fancied having a go at getting yourself into the Guinness Book of World Records?

Well, if so, you may take inspiration from these previous high-achievers associated with Worcester who have all made the illustrious list.

Entries range from the longest living rabbit to the largest gathering of people dressed as garden gnomes.

Some remain proudly standing to this day, while others have unfortunately been pipped.

Here is the full list of people and teams who have broken world records according to the official archives.

Largest gathering of people dressed as garden gnomes

Worcester News:

BBC Hereford and Worcester set the record for the largest gathering of people dressed as garden gnomes in the Foyer of Malvern Theatres on November 18, 2011. A whopping 478 participants donned their best gnome attire. The attempt raised funds for BBC Children in Need.

Hod carrying - greatest weight up ladder

Strongman Russell Bradley carried bricks weighing 164 kg up a 3.65m ladder on January 28, 1991 at Worcester City Football Club. The hod weighed 43 kg alone, meaning he was carrying a total weight of 207 kg.

Mr Bradley broke a second record on November 20, 1993 when he carried bricks weighing 264kg in a hod weighing 48kg for a distance of 5m on the flat, before ascending a ramp to a height of 2.49m. This gave a total weight of a back-breaking 312kg.

Longest living rabbit

Worcester News:

Darius, a Flemish giant rabbit from Worcester, claimed the crown of the longest living rabbit on April 6, 2010. Owned by Annette Edwards, the rabbit was found to be 4 ft 3 in (129 cm) long when measured for an article in the Daily Mail newspaper.

Most tries scored in an English Premiership rugby union match by an individual

Two players have scored six tries in a single match in the English Rugby Premiership. The first was Ryan Constable for Saracens against Bedford on April 16, 2000, before Christian Wade for Wasps matched the tally against Worcester on April 16, 2016. Wade’s six-try haul came in his 100th match for Wasps. This record probably isn’t one that Worcester will take pride in being associated with.

First female referee in a English Premiership Rugby Union match

Unlike the previous rugby related record, this is one Worcester may want to shout about. On September 25, 2021 Sarah Cox became the first ever female referee in a English Rugby Union Premiership game. She took charge of Harlequins vs Worcester at Twickenham Stoop, London.

The 31-year-old Devonian said she had a 'good day in the office'but that at times the players called her 'sir, but then corrected themselves'.
