THE CITY'S newest care home has opened its doors in Worcester - and we have taken a look behind the scenes.

The Belmont, on John Comyn Drive off Droitwich Road, opened its doors for the first time last week and has welcomed its first resident.

It has been built on the site of the former Park and Ride which has been closed since September 2014.

In its place has appeared a North Worcester Primary School and the new care home.

Links have been built between the care home and school with children visiting to read to the sole resident Heather and plans for more intergenerational work in the future.

Residents can make the most of the facilities at The Belmont which includes a cinema room, spa suite and a hairdressing salon.

The three-floor home also features a cocktail bar, private dining and bistro restaurants and 74-bedrooms.

From its third floor, large panoramic windows look out over north Worcester across the allotments and golf course up to Fernhill Heath.
