A supposed vibrating noise has been disrupting residents of the Claines and Perdiswell areas in Worcester.

Residents took to social media to share their complaints and to try to decide what the noise is.

James Lovett, owner of The Coach and Horses pub along the Tything, said: "Can anyone else hear what sounds like a loud vibrating sound near drovers way?

"Almost sounds like a van running or maybe a helicopter hovering?"

He heard the sound on Drovers Way.

When asked more about what the sound was like, Mr Lovett added: "It just sounded like a van or car constantly running outside my house.

"But upon looking there was nothing there."

A commenter responded to Mr Lovett's questions, they said: "I heard something in St Michael's Road.

"Sounded like a generator or even heavy machinery."

Another commenter said: "Is it generators for all the hot tubs on at the moment.

"That is the sounds around St Peter's at the moment.

"A great surge in electricity."

Another person added: "Sounds stupid but I'm in Perdiswell and woke up in the night feeling like the bed was shaking."

Claines ward councillor Karen Lawrance said: "We have had this before.

"There are or were doing repairs on the canal towpath so that could well be it.

"We get this from time to time.

"The noise seems to transfer more at night, probably because there is less normal noise so people become more aware of it."

As mentioned by Cllr Lawrance, the issue of a loud noise distrubing a Worcester neighbourhood is not a new occurrence.

Earlier this year, a loud humming noise was keeping residents awake in Warndon Villages.

Some theories put forward at the time were that the noise was either workmen, a generator, or a corn dryer - as this was previously a noise heard by residents on the estate.

In the same area, there have also been complaints of a loud bass noise in the past.

Councillor Andy Roberts eventually discovered that the noise was coming from a vehicle blasting music after it was reported by a resident who had taken down the registration number.
