THERE have been no arrests after travellers camped at an illegal site in Bevere, Claines.

Police were called to Gwilliam's Farm shop after travellers threatened to move their caravans onto the shop's car park when employees refused to supply them with water.

A spokesperson from West Mercia Police said: "Officers attended Gwilliams Farm Shop on Friday, June 24 just after 10am following a report of a dispute.

"No one was arrested, but officers provided the farm shop with safeguarding advice and urged them to call us if there are any further issues."

Residents in the area worked together to clean up after the travellers were removed by enforcement officers on Saturday, June 25, despite being under the impression that the responsibility fell to Bellway home construction company.

A spokesperson from Bellway said: "Enforcement action commenced at Cherry Orchards on Saturday morning 26th June 2022 at 9am.  Notices were issued to 8 caravans.

"At 12 noon the enforcement officers called to notify the agent that the last vehicle had left site.

"Contractors were instructed to attend the site to clean up but when they arrived on the Monday morning, the residents had already tidied up so the contactor just had to dispose of the refuse bags that had been collected by residents."
