Graffiti aims to keep kids IT safe

A SPECIAL graffiti wall is to be set up outside Worcester's Guildhall to promote a new campaign aimed at protecting children on the internet.

The special event, called "Who's watching your children? Keep IT Safe", will promote a new E-Safety Pledge aimed at safeguarding children using computers.

The pledge, consisting 12 principles and guidelines, has been put together by The Worcestershire Safeguarding Children Board (WSCB) and its partner agencies for voluntary organisations, parents, children and young people to sign up to.

The e-safety event, takes place at the Guildhall between 10am and 1pm on Thursday.

Among those signing the graffiti wall will be members of Worcester Warriors, Worcestershire County Cricket Club and Worcester Wolves. The public will also be encouraged to show support for the pledge by adding signatures.

The event will include presentations by Stephen Carrick Davies, chief executive of Childnet International and Richard Hubbard, chairman of WSCB, discussing the importance of using technology in an appropriate manner to aid learning and development.

There will also be additional activities and competitions for adults and children all aimed at raising awareness of responsible technology use.
