Droitwich WI held a very well attended meeting on February 6.

The president reported on the group convenors' meeting, with details of the next meeting in Himbleton and the autumn one in Salwarpe. Ideas for group activities and outings are being sought, and we look forward to these as we are too small in numbers to organise much ourselves.

A delightful card and letter has been received from our twin WI, St Gabriel's, and our president Margaret has written to try to arrange a meeting with their delegate at the council meeting in Malvern.

Unfortunately the listed speaker had suffered a broken hip, so Brenda Clarke, one of the members, stepped in. She gave us a talk about the collection of tea-towels, started by her late husband as a visual aid for his gardening talks, and later extended.

Dating from the 1950s, members were amused by some of the historical aspects, and one sharp eyed member noted that the yellow gardens open book was said to cost one and sixpence on one of the towels.

She was thanked by Margaret, and presented with a bouquet.

The next meeting is in the community hall at 2pm on March 5.
