A WAITER at a Chinese restaurant near Worcester is £211,000 better off after winning a game of blackjack on his mobile phone.

Kin Lam, 31, played the game, part of Lady Luck's mobile casino, during his breaks and between shifts.

He scooped the record-breaking £211,000 - the biggest ever payout from a mobile phone casino - in a week-long winning streak.

Mr Lam, above, said he was overwhelmed by the jackpot.

"If you had told me a year ago that I could win this much money just by playing blackjack on my mobile phone, I wouldn't have believed you," he said.

"I think I may even use my winnings to buy a house."

The celebrations began when Mr Lam and his wife, Ling, visited London to collect their cheque from the Lady Luck's head office and treated themselves to a day out in the capital.

Lady Luck's is operated by Probability plc, the world's only publicly-traded mobile phone gambling service.

Commenting on the big win, Probability chief operating officer Glenn Elliott said: "Everyone here at Probability is delighted for Mr Lam and we were very pleased to have been able to pay him his winnings in person.

"This terrific pay-out shows that people really can win large amounts of money on their mobile.

"And even if they are just looking for fun, who needs the hassle of going to the casino or even turning on their PC when they just fancy a cheeky punt or a spin on roulette?"
