THE cars are being washed and the polish is out as the final preparations are being made for the massive motor show hitting the streets of Worcester city centre this weekend.

Car dealers, driving schools and valets will all be attending the Worcester Motor Show on Saturday and with 12 local dealerships displaying more than 40 cars along the High Street, CrownGate and Cathedral Plaza shopping centres, it promises to be bigger and better than last year's inaugural event.

Organised in conjunction with tourism organisation VisitWorcester, 20 manufacturers will showcase a range of new models to suit all tastes and budgets.

Jan Judge, of Hilltop Mini Club, said they will be bringing a selection of sporting and ordinary Minis to the show.

"There will be a Mini convertable, a blue Mini that started life as an 850 but it's not now, and a Cooper or a hill climber depending on the weather," she said.

"There will also be people to talk to about the club and about Archie's Mini Run in aid of Acorns Children's Hospice on the stand.

"We have never done a show alongside new cars before, but it sounds like it's going to be quite interesting."

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service will also be present, giving families a chance to have a look at one of its impressive fire engines.

Worcester's station manager Richie Jordan said: "We will just be there to let the public have a look at the fire engine and pick up some information on fire safety.

"We will just be a presence backing up the motor show really."

Meanwhile, shoppers will be able to pick up bumper goodie bags from the Worcester News stand throughout the motor show for only £1. They will include details of all the event's exhibitors, plus a copy of your Worcester News and some motoring goodies.
