Let’s have honesty from New Labour

Sir - With the New Labour withering dismay over any mergers between Worcester city and Malvern Hills District Council, and while agreeing with Coun Marc Bayliss on the continuing of freedom of information, perhaps a little more honesty would explain their real indignation.
MP Mike Foster makes no secret of his and the Government's desire to do away with shires and local councils and replace them with unitary authorities. We in the West Midlands would be controlled from Birmingham.
This is but another step towards the EU and more control from the un-elected at Brussels, in keeping with our un-elected prime minister Gordon Brown.
