A CAR is on fire on a main road into the city centre.

Police can be seen directing traffic away from the fire as flames surround the vehicle parked on Astwood Road in Worcester.

West Mercia Police officers are on scene redirecting traffic.

Fire engines from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service are also at the scene.

The road is currently closed at the roundabout near the New Chequers pub. 
 

It is also closed near to the junction with Bilford Road.

It is not known what started the fire which is currently ongoing tonight (Saturday) at just before 11pm.
